Scott
Kirchmann
Head Coach
Scott Kirchmann begins his third year as Belmont’s Head Strength
and Conditioning Coach. He came to Belmont after spending four years
as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at fellow A-Sun member Campbell
University, where he oversaw all training and conditioning of Campbell
University athletes.
While
at Campbell, he was the school’s first full-time strength coach,
designed a strength and conditioning program from scratch, and was instrumental
in the four A-Sun titles the Camels won during his tenure.
Prior
to his stint at Campbell, Kirchmann spent two years as an assistant
to the 1999 Big West Strength Coach of the Year, Tommy Boyer-Kendrick,
at the University of Idaho. Kirchmann assisted in all phases of the
program, from physiology research to sport-specific programming for
the Idaho student-athletes. He also worked with the Vandals football
team and saw six UI players go on to have careers in the NFL.
Prior
to his position at UI, Kirchmann was an assistant strength and conditioning
coach at Idaho State University while working on his master’s
degree. He received his masters in physical education athletic administration
in 1999. He worked with the football, men’s and women’s
basketball and soccer and volleyball teams. His position at Idaho State
came after serving a summer internship with the U.S. ATCOM Federal Fitness
Facility in St. Louis, Mo. At ATCOM, Kirchmann worked with the army
base in the testing and conditioning of employees.
A
graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Kirchmann was a student
assistant while completing his degree in fitness and leisure management.
He graduated in 1994.
Kirchmann,
an Omaha, Nebraska native, is a member of the National Strength &
Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a certified strength and conditioning
specialist coach. He is also a member of the United States Weightlifting
Federation (USWF) and is a Level I USWF Weightlifting Coach.
Scott
and his wife, the former Gretchen Allison, have one son, Paul Jeffrey,
who will be turning four in August of 2007. They reside in Hermitage,
Tennessee.
