Scott Kirchmann
Head Coach

Scott Kirchmann begins his third year as Belmont’s Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. He came to Belmont after spending four years as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at fellow A-Sun member Campbell University, where he oversaw all training and conditioning of Campbell University athletes.

While at Campbell, he was the school’s first full-time strength coach, designed a strength and conditioning program from scratch, and was instrumental in the four A-Sun titles the Camels won during his tenure.

Prior to his stint at Campbell, Kirchmann spent two years as an assistant to the 1999 Big West Strength Coach of the Year, Tommy Boyer-Kendrick, at the University of Idaho. Kirchmann assisted in all phases of the program, from physiology research to sport-specific programming for the Idaho student-athletes. He also worked with the Vandals football team and saw six UI players go on to have careers in the NFL.

Prior to his position at UI, Kirchmann was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Idaho State University while working on his master’s degree. He received his masters in physical education athletic administration in 1999. He worked with the football, men’s and women’s basketball and soccer and volleyball teams. His position at Idaho State came after serving a summer internship with the U.S. ATCOM Federal Fitness Facility in St. Louis, Mo. At ATCOM, Kirchmann worked with the army base in the testing and conditioning of employees.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Kirchmann was a student assistant while completing his degree in fitness and leisure management. He graduated in 1994.

Kirchmann, an Omaha, Nebraska native, is a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist coach. He is also a member of the United States Weightlifting Federation (USWF) and is a Level I USWF Weightlifting Coach.

Scott and his wife, the former Gretchen Allison, have one son, Paul Jeffrey, who will be turning four in August of 2007. They reside in Hermitage, Tennessee.
