BELMONT BASEBALL DEFEATS TENNESSEE 5-3
GAME DAY CENTRAL

Knoxville, TENN. – The Belmont baseball team defeated Tennessee, 5-3, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. on Wednesday afternoon.

The win improves Belmont to 19-28 overall while Tennessee drops to 25-24.

Junior Brian Kelley (Ormond Beach, Fla.) started the game for Belmont and went five innings and gave up three runs on four hits and had one strikeout.

Steve Crnkovich started the game for Tennessee and gave up one run on three hits with three strikeouts and a walk in four full innings of work.

Belmont scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning on a double to left field by freshman Nate Woods (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) which scored sophomore Daniel Wagner (China Grove, N.C.).

The Bruins increased the lead to 4-0 on a three-run home run to left field by freshman Matt Zeblo (Raleigh, N.C.) in the top of the sixth inning. The other runs scored came from Wagner and Woods.

The Vols responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a solo home run to left field by Kentrail Davis. Tennessee scored two more runs in the inning on an RBI single by Jeff Lockwood scoring Josh Liles and a sacrifice fly to left field by Tanner Moore plating Lockwood to make the score 4-3 in favor of Belmont.

Belmont scored an additional run in the top of the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly to left field by junior Brandon McCall (Spring Hill, Tenn.) scoring freshman Derek Hamblen (Plano, Tex.).

Freshman Tyler Graskewicz (Hudson, Wisc.) went 2.1 innings in relief for the Bruins and gave up no runs and no hits with three strikeouts.

The Bruins will return to action against Campbell at Greer Stadium in Nashville, Tenn. on May 9 starting at 4 p.m.
