ALA. - - Belmont men’s golf finished in 12th place Tuesday at the
Grub Mart-Young Oil Intercollegiate hosted by Jacksonville State University.
The Bruins shot a final round 318 (+30) at the 7,129 yard Par 72 Silver
Lake Golf Course layout – ironically matching their two earlier
rounds of 318-318 for a 54 hole total of 954. Belmont finished 60 strokes
behind team champion Columbus State.
Individually, BU was paced by junior Danny Amundson (Sioux Falls, S.D.),
who fired a final round five over par 77 to place T-20 at 230. Sophomore
Scott O’Brien (Brookings, S.D.) carded a final round 78 to finish
T-47 at 238. Freshman Simon Marshall (N. Yorkshire, England), in his first
full field event of the spring, shot a final round 81 to place 60th at
243. Senior Jeff Lanier (Austin, Texas) went around in 86 to finish 66th
at 248. Freshman Gaylon Cude (Centerville, Tenn.) shot a final round 82
to place T-67 at 249.
Troy University’s Michael McGrady was the medalist at 214 (-2).
The Bruins return to action April 2-3 in their home event, the Belmont
Invitational, at Old Natchez Country Club in Franklin, Tenn.
