MACON, GA. - - Scott O’Brien of the Belmont University men’s golf team has been named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team, the league announced Friday.

O’Brien, a native of Brookings, South Dakota, has seven rounds at par or better in 2006-07, including a career-low round of 66 in round two of the Belmont Intercollegiate. The left hander finished T-7 in that event, one of two top 20 finishes on the year.

O’Brien was joined on the All-Freshman Team by Matt Evans of Campbell, Jordan Gibb and J.C. Horne of North Florida, and Seamus Power of ETSU.

O’Brien is a sophomore in academic standing, having redshirted during the 2005-06 campaign.

Belmont concludes the 2006-07 season this weekend as a participant in the Cavalier Classic hosted by the University of Virginia.
