MEN’S GOLF 14TH AFTER TWO ROUNDS OF MID PINES INTERCOLLEGIATE

PINEHURST, N.C. - - The Belmont men’s golf team finds itself in 14th place after two rounds of the Mid Pines Intercollegiate hosted by UNC-Greensboro. As the first event of the 2006 fall in the shadows of storied Pinehurst #2, the Bruins have carded steady rounds on the 6,528 yard Par 72 Mid Pines Country Club layout.

Senior Jeff Lanier (Austin, Texas) leads Belmont and is T-34 after opening with rounds of 72-74. Sophomore Danny Amundson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finds himself T-39 with rounds of 76-71. Rounding out the Belmont scores: freshman Bryn Rocke (Durban, South Africa) T-45 (71-77), freshman Scott O’Brien (Brookings, S.D.) T-63 (76-75), freshman Gaylon Cude (Centerville, Tenn.) 84 (81-78).

As a team, Belmont resides at +16 (295-297-592), trailing overall leader Wichita State (-16, 287-273-560). Wofford’s Neil O’Briain holds a six shot lead in the individual tally at -12 (67-65-132).

The final round will be played Tuesday.
