MEN'S GOLF TIED FOR THIRD AT WEST FLORIDA

GAME DAY CENTRAL

PENSACOLA, FLA. - - After a sluggish morning 18 holes, Belmont men’s golf regrouped in the afternoon to post the low round of the tournament and put itself within striking distance at the Argonaut Invitational hosted by the University of West Florida.

Belmont team scores of 299-282=581 were good enough to put the Bruins in a third place tie among 15 competing schools. BU’s five over par total through 36 holes is nine shots behind team leader, Old Dominion.
Belmont languished a bit early on the 6,815 yard Par 72 Stonebrook GC layout, but collectively the Bruins responded in the afternoon session.

Individually, senior Jeff Lanier (Austin, Texas) and junior Danny Amundson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) are each T-9 after day one totals of 143 (-1). Each is four strokes of the pace.

Sophomore Scott O’Brien (Brookings, S.D.) is currently T-18 (76-70=146). Freshman Gaylon Cude (Centerville, Tenn.) rebounded from a morning 80 to shoot a career-low round of 71 coming in, putting him T-47. Freshman Bryn Rocke (Durban, South Africa) stands T-58 (78-76=154) after day one.

The final round is scheduled to be played Tuesday morning.
