FORMER BRUIN MIKE MARTIN NAMED SOUTH DAKOTA'S MALE GOLFER OF THE YEAR

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Former Belmont men’s golfer Mike Martin was named South Dakota’s Male Golfer of the Year by the South Dakota Golf Association (SDGA).

Martin, who graduated Belmont last May with a degree in Exercise Science, earned the award from the SDGA after a successful summer in the state golf championships. He won his second consecutive South Dakota Stroke Play Championship, teamed with Mark Anderson of Sioux Falls to win the Two-Man Championship and reached the quarterfinals of the SDGA Match Play Championship.

The Brookings, South Dakota native made a significant contribution to the Belmont golf program during his three years in Nashville. He finished his career with a 75.2 scoring average, third best in Belmont’s Division I history and posted 10 top-20 finishes, including a career-best second place at the Samford Intercollegiate last February.
