Nashville,
Tenn. – Belmont’s men’s golf program will welcome
three new student-athletes for the 2006-2007 season.
Gaylon Cude (Centerville, Tenn./Hickman County HS) – Gaylon
comes to Belmont after a successful prep career at Hickman County High
School. While at Hickman County, he played in four TSSAA Class A-AA State
Tournaments. In addition, Cude earned All-Midstate honors once and All-Region
honors twice.
Simon Marshall (Bedale, United Kingdom) – Simon
joins the Belmont program after a successful junior career in Great Britain.
He placed fourth in the 2005 Yorkshire Under 18 Championship and also
reached the second round of last year’s British Amateur.
Bryn Rocke (Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa) – Rocke
is the first South African to play for Belmont during the Division I era.
He won the 2003 Kwazulu-Natal Under-23 Provincial Championship at age
15 and has played on the Ernie Els Junior Tour the last two years. While
on the Els Tour, he played in 10 events and had two top-10 finishes.
“I think we have a talented group of freshmen joining us this season,”
said Brian Costello, Belmont head coach. “With the graduation of
our six seniors, we lost some experience, but I think this group of freshman
along with our returnees, we will continue our success of the last couple
of years.”
During the 2005-06 season, the Belmont men’s golf team won two
team championships, the Samford Intercollegiate and the Belmont Intercollegiate,
and finished sixth at the A-Sun Championship.
