GA. - - Ron Gravely, a member of the Belmont men’s soccer team,
was named the defensive player of the week for Oct. 22, it was announced
on Monday.
The sophomore psychology major from Dallas recorded his conference-leading
fifth shutout of the season in Belmont’s 1-0 victory at Florida
Gulf Coast in Ft. Myers, Fla. on Oct. 21, with four saves. His five shutouts
this season is tied for second all-time in Belmont history. Gravely is
currently tied with current graduate assistant coach Kyle Roelke, who
had five shutouts last season. Matt Renfrow holds the all-time record
with six shutouts in the 2003 season. This is Gravely’s first honor
from the Atlantic Sun.
The Bruins (5-7-2, 2-4-1 Atlantic Sun) will return to action on Oct.
26 against North Florida at the Whitten Soccer Complex in Nashville, Tenn.
