BELMONT MEN’S SOCCER DROPS MATCH AT STETSON, 2-0 |

The loss drops Belmont to 4-7-2 overall and 1-4-1 in the Atlantic Sun while Stetson improves to 8-4-0, 4-2-0 in the conference. The Hatters scored their first goal in the 30th minute as Eugene Starikov scored his fifth goal of the season after placing a header to the right side of the net past the goalkeeper. Kirk Labusch received credit for the assist. Stetson’s other goal came in the 76th minute when Tanner Wolfe notched his fifth goal of the year with an assist from Starikov. Senior Derrick Henry paced the Bruins with two shots. Senior Justin Mooneyhan, junior Bo Konigsmark and sophomore Wade Wonderlin each attempted one shot in the match. Stetson outshot Belmont, 10-5, in the match, but the Bruins had more corner kicks, 5-2. Sophomore Ron Gravely had three saves in the match for Belmont. “It was a good game and both teams played hard,” said Belmont head coach Earle Davidson. “We played well in the second half. Every conference match is tough and Stetson is a good team.” The Bruins will return to action on Oct. 21 to face Florida Gulf Coast
in Fort Myers, Fla. beginning at noon.
