SPARTANBURG,
S.C. - - Senior Eric Susewind (Houston) was tabbed the Defensive MVP of
the South Carolina/Tennessee Challenge hosted by Furman and Wofford from
Nov. 2-4, it was announced on Monday.
Senior Jay Ayres (Valrico, Fla.) and juniors Cyrus Eaton (Carbondale,
Colo.) and Mete Ozkan (Sarasota, Fla.) were also named to the all-tournament
team from Belmont.
Belmont started the tournament with the biggest upset in program history
with a 2-1 win over #16 Furman at the Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville,
S.C. on Nov. 2. Junior Ryan Hook scored the game winner in the first minute
of overtime. It was Hook’s first ever shot attempt in his career.
The victory was the first time Belmont has ever defeated a ranked opponent
in men’s soccer. Eaton scored the other Belmont goal in the 73rd
minute.
Belmont dropped the second match of the tournament to Wofford, 1-0, at
Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C. on Nov. 4.
