Durham, N.C. – A small group of Belmont distance runners competed this weekend at the Duke Invitational hosted by Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

On the men’s side, Belmont posted four top-10 finishes. Hillary Cheruiyot was the team’s top finisher as he placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.71. In the 10,000 meters, John Brigham placed sixth while his teammate, Kevin Stone, finished in 10th place with a time of 30:44.10. In addition, Ben McGlothlin placed seventh in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:02.76.

Among the Belmont women, only one Bruin finished among the top-20 in the three events they competed. Lauren Williams finished 19th in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:25.98.

The Belmont track and field teams will be back in action next Saturday at the Boston-Moon Classic hosted by Tennessee State at the Ed Temple Track on the TSU campus.
