TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT THE SALUKI INDOORS; RIVES WINS THE 200 METERS

Carbondale, Ill. – The Belmont indoor track and field teams competed in their second meet of the indoor season at the 2007 Saluki Classic hosted by Southern Illinois this weekend in Carbondale, Illinois.

The Belmont women’s squad posted seven top-10 finishes during the meet. Sophomore Lynette Rives had an outstanding meet. She won the 200 meters event with a time of 25.00, placed third in the 60 meters with a school record time of 7.67, finished third in the long jump with a school record mark of 19 feet, 10 inches, and was a member of the 4x400 meter relay that placed third with a time of 4:01.25. In addition, sophomore Lizz Pollock finished 10th both in the 60 meter hurdles (9.35) and 400 meters (1:00.15).

The men’s team had four top-10 finishes. Senior Channing Twyner had a great day after finishing third in the 60 meters with a school record time of 6.95. In addition, senior Cornelius Perry placed 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 45 feet, 5 inches.

The Belmont track teams will be back in action February 2-3 at the Indiana Indoors meet in Bloomington, Indiana.
