CITY, Tenn. – The men’s track and field team participated
in the first day of the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships on the campus
of East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn.
The Bruins were able to win the Men Distance Medley with a time of 10:19.89.
The runners for Belmont were sophomore Hillary Cheruiyot (Eldoret, Kenya),
sophomore Daniel Jones (White Bluff, Tenn.), sophomore Colin Magut (Kitale,
Kenya) and senior Stephen Register (Franklin, Tenn.).
Senior John Brigham (Mobile, Ala.) won the 3000 Meter Run with a time
of 8:30.82. Three consecutive Bruins finished from 7th to 9th. Sophomore
Will Peters (Carmel, Ind.) finished with a time of 8:59.10, sophomore
Clay Hannah (Lebanon, Tenn.) ran a time of 9:00.04 and sophomore Kip Hill
(Liberty, Mo.) finished in 9:01.33.
Senior Brandon Grass (Thompsons Station, Tenn.) finished fourth in the
Pole Vault with a clearing height of 4.45m.
Sophomore Joe Frye (Roscommon, Mich.), the reigning A-Sun track and field
male athlete of the week, finished sixth in the Shot Put with a distance
of 14.06m. Freshman Pierce Greenberg (Raleigh, N.C.) placed ninth, throwing
for 13.26m.
Sophomore Matt Fielder (LaGrange, Ill.) finished fourth in the Heptathlon
with 2463 points in the finals.
The Bruins will resume action at the A-Sun Championships on Mar. 1.
