May 16 at Atlantic Sun Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men’s track and field team
participated in the Oregon Relays in Portland, Ore. and the Stan Lyons
Invite, hosted by Butler University in Indianapolis, this past weekend.
At the Oregon Relays, senior Colin Magut (Kitale, Kenya) finished 19th
in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 14:17.02 while fellow senior Jacob
Buckman (Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Hillary Cheruiyot (Eldoret, Kenya)
finished fourth and 16th in Section 2 of that distance on times of 14:30.74
and 15:21.49.
Two Bruins participated in the 10,000 Meter Run. Junior John Brigham
(Mobile, Ala.) placed third on a time of 30:25.94 and senior Kevin Stone
(Fairfield, Ohio) finished seventh with 31:44.34.
At the Stan Lyons Invite, senior Stephen Register (Franklin, Tenn.) participated
in the 200 Meter Dash and posted a time of 51.19s for 17th place. Sophomores
Kip Hill (Liberty, Mo.) and Clay Hannah (Lebanon, Tenn.) finished seventh
and eighth in the 1500 Meter Run on times of 4:00.09 and 4:03.04.
Junior Daniel Jones (White Bluff, Tenn.) placed fourth in the 3000 Meter
Stepplechase with a time of 9:45.95. Freshman Jameson Elder (Alpharetta,
Ga.) finished seventh in the High Jump on a distance of 1.95m.
Senior Brandon Grass (Thompsons Station, Tenn.) finished 16th in the
Pole Vault with a clearing height of 4.30m. Sophomore Matt Fielder (LaGrange,
Ill.) finished fourth in the Long Jump at 6.94m and eighth in the Triple
Jump with 12.73m.
Sophomore Joe Frye (Roscommon, Mich.) placed 17th in the Shot Put with
a distance of 14.34m.
Senior Brady Manifold finished in seventh place for the Javelin Throw
with a distance of 48.22m.
The team will return to action at the Atlantic Sun Championships in Clemson,
S.C. on May. 16.
