JONESBORO, ARK. – The Belmont women’s golf team was disqualified from placing in the team competition at the Lady Indian Classic at the Jonesboro Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark. on Tuesday. The Bruins were disqualified due to an incorrect playing procedure. Host institute Arkansas State and Sam Houston State were also disqualified from the tournament.

“I’m disappointed by the disqualification because of the error,” said Belmont women’s golf head coach Lissa Bradford. “However, I’m also proud of our girls for admitting to the error and informing the judges about it instead of continuing to play.”

Junior Lorie Warren placed 21st in the individual competition after shooting a combined score of 156. Junior Ashleigh Garman finished 25th after shooting 157.

The Bruins will return to action on Oct. 22 at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate at Clarksville, Tenn.
