WOMEN'S GOLF STANDS THIRD AFTER ROUND ONE OF THE A-SUN CHAMPIONSHIP; WARREN NOTCHES HOLE-IN ONE

Johnson City, Tenn. – Buoyed by Lorie Warren’s hole-in-one, the Belmont women’s golf team stands in third after round one of the Atlantic Sun Championship held Monday at The Ridges Golf Club in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

The Bruins posted a first round team score of 320 (+32), 22 shots behind tournament leader and host ETSU and five shots behind second place and defending champion Campbell.

Junior Lorie Warren leads the Belmont contingent after day one. The Hendersonville native had her first career hole-in-one as she aced the seventh hole on her way to a six over par 78 to finish tied for fifth place. It was the second time in the program’s history that BU golfer aced a hole at a A-Sun Championship (Kate Austin – 2004). She is one of three Belmont golfers in the top-10. Senior Rebekah Wilson and junior Ashleigh Garman are tied for 10th place after shooting an 80 in round one. Freshman Lauren Spurlock is tied for 19th after posting an 82, while junior Lauren Oeser is 29th after shooting an 85. The overall individual leader is Laura Jansone of ETSU, who shot 67 (-5) on Monday.
