MACON,
Ga. – After posting over 150 scoreless minutes in goal over the
weekend for the Belmont women’s soccer team, senior Micaela Crowley
(Hoover, Ala.) was named this week’s Atlantic Sun Defensive Player
of the Week. It is the second time in her career she has received the
honor.
Crowley started and played the entire first half against Chattanooga
in BU’s home opener. Two days later, the Hoover, Ala., native logged
105:15 in a double overtime thriller against Middle Tennessee State. The
1-0 victory over the Blue Raiders marked the first time the Bruins have
come away with a victory since the 2000 season.
Her performances over the weekend moved her up on several of the program’s
all-time career records list. Crowley’s 150 minutes moved her to
within 1,100 minutes of tying for the program’s all-time minutes
recorded. She also moved to within four shutouts of tying Bonny Elder’s
record that has stood since 2000.
Belmont returns to action on Friday night at the Whitten Soccer Complex.
The Bruins will take on Arkansas-Little Rock. Game time is set for 6:30
p.m.
