TRACK TEAMS POST 14 TOP-FIVE FINISHES AT THE BOSTON-MOON CLASSIC

Nashville, Tenn. – The Belmont Bruins track and field teams had a successful Saturday at the Boston-Moon Classic hosted by Tennessee State at the Ed Temple Track on the TSU campus.

The Belmont men posted nine top-five finishes in 13 events. John Brigham won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:46.23. His teammate Brad Polley placed second in the same event with a time of 9:56.15. Matt Fiedler finished second in the high jump with a mark of 5-10.75, while Brandon Grass also placed second in his event, the pole vault, with a mark of 14 feet. Kipkosgei Magut and Will Peters both finished third in their respective events, the 800 meters and 1500 meters.

The BU women’s team had five top-five finishes among the eight events they competed. The team had two individuals win their events and saw two school records fall. Lynette Rives won the 200 meters with a time of 24.39, while Christa Coppin won the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet. Elizabeth Codrington (pictured above) broke the school record in the triple jump as she placed fourth with a mark of 36-07.50, while the BU 4x100 relay team broke the school record in that event as they placed third with a time of 46.64. In addition, Jessica Giles finished fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.13.

The Belmont track and field teams are back in action next weekend, April 20-21, at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville.
