Nashville, Tenn. – On Saturday, a small group of Belmont track and field athletes competed at both the Coach O Invitational at Troy University and the JSU Invitational at Jacksonville State.

A group of Belmont men’s field event competitors headed to the JSU Invitational at Jacksonville State and the Bruins posted eight top-five finishes. Freshman Joe Frye led the team with four of those top-five finishes. He finished fourth in the shot put and javelin and fifth in both the discus and hammer throws. The top finisher for Belmont was Tyler Howell, who finished third in the javelin with a mark of 141-00.

The Belmont female sprinters competed at the Coach O Invitational at Troy University. The Bruins posted four top-fives. Sophomore Lynette Rives placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 56.27, while sophomore Jessica Giles placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.44.

Both of Belmont track and field teams will be back in action next weekend at the Duke Invitational in Durham, North Carolina.
