LIZZ POLLOCK NAMED A-SUN TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Macon, Ga. -- Belmont's Lizz Pollock posted two top-3 finishes at the Austin Peay Spring Fling on Saturday to become just the second Bruin ever to be honored as the Athlete of the Week, and the first since March 9, 2004, league officials announced today.

The Clarksville, Tenn., native competed in both hurdle events, garnering first place in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.72) and finishing third in the 100-meter hurdles (15.08). Both times for the sophomore established new Belmont records.

The award is the first for Pollock, as she becomes just the second Belmont student-athlete to be honored as the A-Sun Athlete of the Week, and the first since Chrisy Csorna was honored on March 9, 2004.

The Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the 2007 indoor track season.

The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
