April 11 at Boston Moon Invitational (Tennessee State)

NASHVILLE,
Tenn. – The Belmont women’s track and field team participated
at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. hosted by North Carolina State
and the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala., hosted by Alabama, over the
weekend.
In the Raleigh Relays, junior Mollie Schlarman (Southgate, Ky.) placed
12th in the 1500 Meter Run with a time of 4:51.90.
Freshman Lauren Weaver (Nashville, Tenn.) finished fourth in the 5000
Meter Run Seeded, running a time of 16:40.23, which qualified her for
Regionals. Sophomore Brittany Thune (Sioux Falls, S.D.) participated in
the 5000 Meter Run Section II race and was third with a time of 17:36.47.
Seniors Elizabeth Smothers (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Megan Saunders also
participated in the race and finished 21st and 23 respectively with times
of 18:28.79 and 18:31.46.
Sophomore Aubrey Alexander (Strongville, Ohio) finished 15th in the 5000
Meter Run Section III, running the race in 20:10.08.
In the Alabama Relays, junior Lynette Rives (Clarksville, Tenn.) won
the 100 Meter Dash Section 1 with a time of 11.71s. This mark tied her
own school record and qualified her for Regionals.
Freshman Quina Fortune (New Orleans) finished third in the 200 Meter
Dash Section 1 with a time of 24.14s. Sophomore Khalia Turner (Nashville,
Tenn.) ran a time of 24.63 in the 200 Meter Dash Section 2 race, good
enough for second place. Finally, sophomore Elizabeth Codrington (Greta,
La.) placed fourth in the 200 Meter Dash Section 7 race with a time of
26.51.
Junior Elizabeth Pollock (Clarksville, Tenn.) finished third in the 400
Meter Hurdles Section 1 race with a time of 1:01.97.
Dee Dee Gintel (Hollywood, Fla.) finished 29th in the 400 Meter Dash
with a time of 1:04.06.
The team placed second in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 46.27.
Belmont also finished second in the 4x200 Meter Relay running a time of
1:38.79. Finally, the Bruins finished fourth in the 4x400 Relay at a time
of 3:42.32.
Belmont will return to action at the Boston Moon Invitational, hosted
by Tennessee State, in Nashville, Tenn. on Apr. 11.
