BLOOMINGTON,
IND. - - The Belmont women’s track and field team participated in
their third indoor meet of the season at the Indiana Relays, hosted by
Indiana University, in Bloomington, Ind. this weekend.
In day one of the meet, Ashley Pickett ran a preliminary time in the
Women 60 Meter Dash of 8.05s. In the same race, junior Lynette Rives (Clarksville,
Tenn.) ran a time of 7.61 to qualify for the finals.
In the Women 1 Mile Run Open Finals, junior Mollie Schlarman (Southgate,
Ky.) ran a time of 5:15.98 to place 18th. Senior Megan Saunders (Sylva,
N.C.) finished 29th in the race with a time of 5:25.20 and sophomore Aubrey
Alexander placed 42nd with a time of 5:49.03.
Three women participated in the preliminaries of the Women 800 Meter
Run Open. sophomore Khalia Turner (Nashville, Tenn.) ran a time of 2:27.69,
sophomore Britney Green (Rowlette, Tex.) ran a time of 2:40.22 and freshman
Erin Mankin (Nashville, Tenn.) placed a time of 2:42.01.
Freshman Deidra Gintel ran a time of 1:46.24 in the Women 600 Meter Run
and freshman Kara Sephel (Nashville, Tenn.) posted a time of 1:53.71.
Freshman Quina Fortune ran a time of 24.97s in the preliminaries of the
Women 200 Meter Dash Open.
Senior Christa Coppin (Brentwood, Tenn.) placed third in the Women Pole
Vault finals with a clearing height of 3.55m, breaking the school mark.
Sophomore Elizabeth Codrington (Gretna, La.) posted a distance of 11.26m
in the preliminaries of the Women Triple Jump. She proceeded to finish
12th in the finals, jumping a distance of 10.67m.
In day two of the meet, Rives ran a time of 7.59s in the semifinals of
the Women 60 Meter Dash to qualify for the finals. This tied her own school
mark. She proceeded to place seventh in the finals with a time of 7.60s.
Belmont placed sixth in the finals of the finals of the Women 4x400 Meter
Relay with a time of 3:50.36. The participants for the Bruins in the race
were Pollock, sophomore Khalia Turner (Nashville, Tenn.), junior Elizabeth
Pollock (Clarksville, Tenn.) and Fortune.
Freshman Ashley Pickett placed second in the finals of the Women 200
Meter Dash with a time of 25.79s.
The Bruins will return to action at the MTSU Invitational on Feb. 9 in
Murfreesboro, Tenn.
