MURFREESBORO,
TENN. – The Belmont women’s track and field team continued
its indoor season at the MTSU Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Saturday.
Sophomore Lynette Rives (Nashville, Tenn.) won the Women Long Jump with
a distance of 5.96m.
Rives also won the Women 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.37s, a school
record. Freshman Quina Fortune placed third in the race with a time of
25.08s and sophomore Britney Green (Rowlette, Tex.) ran the race in 27.44s,
good enough for 14th place.
Junior Elizabeth Pollock (Clarksville, Tenn.) finished fifth in the Women
55 Meter Dash with a time of 7.48s.
In the preliminary round of the Women 55 Meter Dash, Ashley Pickett ran
a time of 7.51s.
In the Women 400 Meter Dash, Fortune placed eighth with a time of 58.82s.
Pollock placed one spot below with a time of 59.18s. Green finished in
16th place with a time of 1:03.98.
Sophomore Brittnay Thune (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished second in the Women
1 Mile Run with a time of 5:14.16. Junior Mollie Schlarman (Southgate,
Ky.) ran the race in 5:28.22, good enough for fifth. Freshman Erin Mankin
(Nashville, Tenn.) finished ninth with a time of 5:58.53.
Sophomore Khalia Turner (Nashville, Tenn.) sixth in the Women 800 Meter
Run with a time of 2:26.22. Freshman Dee Dee Gintel ran the race in 2:34.79
for a placement of 12th place. Kara Sephel finished 14th in the race with
a time of 2:48.15.
Megan Saunders finished second in the Women 3000 Meter Run with a time
of 10:35.22. Sophomore Aubrey Alexander placed fifth with a time of 11:10.11.
The Bruins placed fourth in the 4x440 Relay with a finishing time of
3:59.13.
Senior Christa Coppin won the Women Pole Vault with a clearing height
of 3.51m.
Sophomore Elizabeth Codrington finished fourth in the Women Triple Jump
with a distance of 11.01m.
