BELMONT WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD TEAM CONTINUES INDOOR SEASON AT MTSU INVITAIONAL; RIVES WINS TWO COMPETITIONS
 
 
 

MACON, GA. - - Junior Lynette Rives was named the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 23, it was announced on Wednesday. This is the third time in her career that Rives has received this honor.

Rives, a biology major from Clarksville, Tenn., broke two school records en route to winning two competitions at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Jan. 19. She won the 200 Meter Dash with a finishing time of 24.37 seconds, breaking the mark she set at the 2007 A-Sun Championships. The other victory came in the Long Jump, in which Rives shattered her own record by posting a distance of 5.96m (19’7’’). Her previous long came at the 2006 MTSU Invitational.

The Bruins will return to action at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. on Feb. 2.
