Belmont Women’s Track and Field Team Competes at SEMotion Relays; Rives and 4x100 Meter Relay Team Earn Wins

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Belmont women’s track and field team competed at the SEMotion Relays hosted by Southeast Missouri State in Cape Giradeau, Mo. this past weekend.

The Bruins won the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 46.00s. The participants were sophomore Khalia Turner (Nashville, Tenn.), freshman Quina Fortune (New Orleans), junior Elizabeth Pollock (Clarksville, Tenn.) and junior Lynette Rives (Clarksville, Tenn.).

Rives, the reigning Atlantic Sun Track Athlete of the Week, continued her excellent meet with a victory in the 200 Meter Dash, running the race in 24.19s.

Fortune placed second in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 56.22.

Pollock finished in second in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:01.01.

Sophomore Elizabeth Codrington (Greta, La.) placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.45m.

Codrington also finished in 11th in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.02s and Turner placed a spot lower with a time of 13.13.

Senior Christa Coppin (Brentwood, Tenn.) participated in the Pole Vault event and finished fourth with a clearing height of 3.35m.

The Bruins will return to action at the Boston Moon Invitational, hosted by Tennessee State, in Nashville, Tenn. on Apr. 11.
