The Entrance to the Warner Parks
| The Warner Parks and the Vaughn's Creek Cross Country Course Edwin and Percy Warner Parks, collectively known as "The Warner Parks," is managed by the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation are the largest municipally administered parks in Tennessee and together span 2684 acres of forest and field, nine miles from downtown Nashville. The parks feature several miles of trails and plenty of grass running opportunities that is ideal for all types of distance training and is one of the premier training environments in the Southeast. Inside Percy Warner Park is the Vaughn's Creek Cross Country Course. The Vaughn's Creek Course is a renowned cross country course used by area high schools and colleges for training and racing. The 5K and 8K layout features creek crossings, canopy covered trails, challenging hills, and is one of the nation's toughest cross country courses. The course is home to many collegiate and high school running events. In the last five years, it has hosted such prestigious events such as the SEC Cross Country Championship in 1999 and the A-Sun Championship in 2004. Directions to the Vaughn's Creek Course Centennial Park Located a perfect mile and a half (a warm-up jog) from the Belmont campus, Centennial Park features approximately 125 acres of flat grass and the perfect spot for the team's favorite hill circuit workout. The park also includes Watauga Lake, a band shell, and the world's only full-size replica of the Parthenon, which includes a 42-foot tall statue of the Greek goddess Athena. Vanderbilt Track Complex Belmont’s
track programs train at the Vanderbilt University Track Complex, just
a few blocks from the Belmont campus. The state-of-the-art complex features
a Mondo synthetic track and jump surface, similar to the last three Olympic
venues. The facility includes a Mondo D-Curve for the javelin and high
jump, two containment areas for the discus and hammer throws, and a water
element for the steeplechase. In the spring of 2005, the track hosted
the Atlantic Sun Conference Track and Field Championships in April as
well as the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship
in May. |
