Belmont Baseball To Open Fall World Series On Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The annual Belmont Baseball Fall World Series is set to begin on Friday with Game One starting at 3:00 p.m. at Shelby Park.  The team will be split into two squads, Navy and Red, for the seven game series.

The Navy team, coached by Assistant Coach Aaron Smith, will send sophomore Chase Brookshire (Chattanooga, Tenn.) out to the mound for Game One.  Brookshire led the Bruins with a 6-2 record and 83.1 innings pitched last season.  His 52 strikeouts were also a team high in 2010.

Team Red, coached by Assistant Coach Scott Hall, will start senior Nate Woods (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) on Friday.  Woods, who finished with a 5-6 record last year, tallied 43 strikeouts in 69.0 innings pitched as a junior. 

Game Two will take place Saturday at 12:00 p.m. with starting pitchers freshman James Buckelew (Suwanee, Ga.) and sophomore Josh Davis (Fayetteville, Ga.) for teams Navy and Red, respectively.
