Belmont Alum Ed Kelley Elected Mayor of Ormond Beach, Florida

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Belmont alum Ed Kelley was elected Mayor of Ormond Beach, Fla. on November 3, 2010, as announced by the city's website.  Kelley, father of recent member of the Bruins Baseball Team, Brian Kelley, has served as Deputy Mayor of Ormond Beach since January of 2006.

Ed Kelley graduated from then Belmont College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, studying in business administration and economics.  He retired in 2001 after a 20-year career with Hawaiian Tropic, serving as a sales distributor and president of the company's European operations.  

Brian Kelley, one of Ed's two children (also a daughter, Katherine), was a member of the Belmont Baseball Team for the 2008 and 2009 seasons.  In his two year career with the Bruins, Kelley made 29 appearances and 25 starts on the mound.  He had a career record of 8-8, leading the squad with five wins in 2009.  Kelley also had 108 strikeouts in two seasons, 60 coming as a team-best during his senior campaign.
