Baseball Earns Votes In Final USA Today/ESPN Poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - In the final USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll, the Belmont University baseball team received four votes.  It marked the first time that the Bruins have garnered votes in the prestigious poll.

The Bruins finished the 2011 campaign with a program record 38 wins, won their first ever Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, and earned their first berth into the NCAA Tournament.  The BU baseball squad then became the first Belmont team of any sport to win an NCAA Tournament game, defeating both Oklahoma State and Troy before falling to Vanderbilt in the Regional Championship.

Vandy claimed the number three spot in the poll following their tremendous College World Series run.  Mississippi State, who Belmont defeated in one of three games early in the season, is the only other Bruin opponent to finish in the top 25 (15th).  Stetson (26 votes) and Belmont were the only A-Sun teams to receive votes in the poll.
