Fall Series Recap - Games Three and Four

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont baseball team continued its annual Fall World Series last week, as the Navy Team tied the series at 2-2 after a pair of tight victories over the Grey Team.

Navy won Game Three by a score of 11-9 after recording a seven run sixth inning.  Junior Garrett Fanchier (Lebanon, Tenn.) struck out six and walked only one in five and two thirds inning in the start for Navy.

Junior Jared Breen (Marietta, Ga.) and senior Dylan Craig (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) led Navy at the plate.  The former tallied two doubles and a triple, while the latter recorded two singles and a triple in the victory. Senior Phillip Parsley (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) added a single and a double for the Navy Team.

Before being relieved for the sixth inning, sophomore James Buckelew (Suwanee, Ga.) pitched five innings of shutout baseball, allowing only two hits while striking out five for the Grey Team.

Freshman Matt Beaty (Dresden, Tenn.) homered and added two singles for Grey, while freshman Drew Ferguson (Knoxville, Tenn.) added four base hits in the loss.  Sophomore William Dodd (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) also tallied two singles for Grey.

In Game Four Parsley came to the rescue tying the series at 2-2 with a walk off home run to give Navy a 7-6 win.  The senior added a single earlier in the contest, while Craig also homered and singled in the victory.  Junior Judah Akers (Cookeville, Tenn.) also recorded a double and two singles to help lead the way for Navy.

Junior Chase Brookshire (Chattanooga, Tenn.), senior Matt Hamann (Northbrook, Ill.), and junior Jessie Snodgrass (Lebanon, Tenn.) combined for four scoreless innings of relief to lead Navy on the mound.  Snodgrass picked up the win for his efforts.
