NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont Basketball opens the 2010-11 season in Knoxville, joining Tennessee, Missouri State and Arkansas State in the South Regional of the 2010 NIT
Season Tip-Off.

The Bruins went 19-12 a year ago and earned a share of the Atlantic Sun regular season title. Junior Mick Hedgepeth and sophomore Ian Clark were both Preseason All-Atlantic Sun selections. Hedgepeth, who saw his scoring average jump from 3.5 to 11.6 points per game, recorded five double-doubles last season. Clark, a 2010 Freshman Mid Major All-American and reigning Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year, became the first Bruin freshman ever to lead the team in scoring. The Memphis native averaged 14.9 points per game last season.

The Bruins defeated Northern State, 79-64, on Nov. 9 in the inaugural Don Meyer Classic. Brandon Baker scored a team-high 14 points. All 16 players saw action and no Bruin logged more than 22 minutes.

This is the second appearance for Belmont in the NIT Season Tip-Off, having also participated in 2006.
