Men's Basketball Faces Tennessee State Monday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont Basketball returns to game action following the Thanksgiving holiday, Monday night at Tennessee State.
The Bruins have won three consecutive games, including a 71-44 decision over defending Big South Champion Winthrop Nov. 23. Belmont outrebounded the Eagles, 54-36, and forced 19 turnovers.
Junior Scott Saunders was one of many Bruins to shine during the NIT Season Tip-Off. The New Orleans, La. native scored a career-high 24 points against Marist Nov. 22 and nearly backed it up with a double-double against Winthrop Nov. 23, tallying nine points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Saunders is averaging 12.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Belmont head coach Rick Byrd is utilizing his deep bench this season, with all 12 Bruins who have suited up for game action seeing extended playing time. In fact, 11 Bruins are averaging double figure minutes through four games.
Belmont has won four consecutive games against Tennessee State, including 69-60 last November at the Curb Event Center.
