Men's Basketball Returns Home to Face North Florida Saturday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont Basketball begins a four-game Atlantic Sun Conference homestand Saturday afternoon against North Florida.
The Bruins defeated Stetson Wednesday evening, 70-53, as head coach Rick Byrd recorded his 500th victory at Belmont. Freshman J.J. Mann scored a team-high 12 points while fellow freshman Blake Jenkins tied his career-high with nine points.
Senior captain Jon House continues to be a steadying influence for the Bruins. The Guelph, Ont., Canada native is third on the team in offensive rebounds and field goal percentage, all while defending multiple positions.
Belmont head coach Rick Byrd has utilized his deep and talented bench from the outset, and it has reaped major dividends. The Bruins have 10 players averaging double figure minutes, with an 11th player (Blake Jenkins) averaging 9.2 minutes per game.
Belmont has won eight of nine meetings with North Florida, including 70-56 last February in Nashville. That day, Ian Clark tied his career-high with 31 points on 9-for-11 three-point shooting.
