Ian Clark Named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. - - Belmont men's basketball sophomore Ian Clark (Memphis, Tenn.) has been named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Clark averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game this past week as Belmont defeated East Tennessee State Feb. 17 and USC Upstate Feb. 19. The shooting guard shot 57 percent from the field – including 8-for-13 from three-point distance – in the two victories which helped the Bruins secure their fourth Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championship in the past six years.

The Memphis, Tenn. native scored seven of his game-high 18 points against ETSU in the final 2:51 of regulation, as the Bruins claimed a 68-58 victory. Two days later, Clark added a game-high 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting and four rebounds in Belmont's 81-49 victory over the Spartans.

The reigning Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year and a Preseason All-Atlantic Sun selection, Clark ranks among the league leaders in scoring, field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage and three-point field goals per game.

This is Clark's third career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award, having received the honor Feb. 8, 2010 and Jan. 18, 2011.

Belmont (25-4, 17-1 Atlantic Sun) returns to action Thursday, Feb. 24 at Mercer.
