MACON, Ga. - - Belmont men's basketball plays Jacksonville Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 Atlantic Sun Basketball Championships.
The Bruins are the defending Atlantic Sun Tournament champions, and earned the No. 1 seed for this year's tournament by claiming the regular season conference championship for a fifth time in seven years.
Four members of the Belmont University men's basketball team received All-Atlantic Sun honors, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced Monday.
Senior Drew Hanlen (St. Louis, Mo.) and juniors Ian Clark (Memphis, Tenn.) and Kerron Johnson (Huntsville, Ala.) were named First Team All-Atlantic Sun. Senior Mick Hedgepeth (Crossville, Ala.) was named Second Team All-Atlantic Sun. Clark was also named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year.
Over its last 11 games, Belmont is averaging 85.5 points per game on 52.1 percent shooting, with six players averaging double figure scoring.
Belmont sophomore Blake Jenkins (Knoxville, Tenn.) scored a career-high 18 points vs. Jacksonville (1/28/12).
This marks the 22nd meeting between Belmont and Jacksonville. The Bruins hold a 15-6 series lead, which includes two hard-earned victories this season.
