ORLANDO, Fla. - - Former Belmont University standout Ian Clark (Memphis, Tenn.) delivered a fine performance in his NBA Summer League debut Sunday.
Playing for the Miami Heat Summer League team against the Utah Jazz, Clark led Miami in scoring with 15 points in 16 minutes off the bench. In fact, Clark scored all 15 points in the final 13 minutes of the game, sparking a Heat comeback effort.
His deep three-pointer with 6:47 remaining cut Utah's once 16-point advantage to only two.
For the game, Clark went 5-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-4 from three-point distance. He made both free throw attempts while adding three rebounds.
Utah won 69-59.
Clark and the Heat return to action Monday against the Brooklyn Nets.
Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. CT with live coverage on NBA TV and NBA Summer League Live online.
Clark, a 2013 Associated Press All-American and Naismith Player of the Year candidate, ended his Belmont career as the Bruins' NCAA era leader in points (1,920) and three-point field goals (340).
