Men's Golf Tied for Fourth after Day One of the Grub Mart Intercollegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Belmont men's golf team is tied for fourth place after day one of the Jacksonville State /Grub Mart Intercollegiate held Monday at Silver Lakes Golf Course in Jacksonville, Alabama.

Belmont posted identical rounds of 291 on Monday to finish the day with a 36-hole score of 592, which tied them for fourth place with Nicholls State and Columbus State (Ga.).  They are 13 shots behind tournament leader Austin Peay.

Three Bruin freshmen rank among the top-25 after 36-holes.  Max Markley carded rounds of 73 and 71 on Monday to finished tied for 14th place with a score of 144 (even-par).  Logan Hance is tied for 20th place after shooting a 145 on day one (71-74), while Ben Simpson is tied for 24th place after posting a 146 (72-74)on Monday.  Other Belmont scores from Monday included: Dan Smith (T-28th, 147) and Elliott Wickenden (T-47th, 151).

The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00am.
