Men's Golf Ties for Fifth Place at the Grub Mart Intercollegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Belmont men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place at this week's Jacksonville State /Grub Mart Intercollegiate held this week at Silver Lakes Golf Course in Jacksonville, Alabama.

Belmont shot a team score of 299 in Tuesday's final round to finish in a tie for fifth place with Armstrong Atlantic at 881.  The tournament champion was host Jacksonville State, who finished the 54-hole event with a score of 864.

Two Bruins finished among the top-20.  Senior Dan Smith carded a one-under par 71 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 10th place with a 54-hole score of 218.  It was his third top-10 finish of the season.  In addition, freshman Max Markley tied for 18th place with a score of 220.  Other Belmont scores from the tournament included: Ben Simpson (T-33rd, 224), Logan Hance (T-38th, 225), and Elliott Wickenden (T-38th, 225).

The men's golf team will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday, April 4-5, at the Mizzou Intercollegiate in Columbia, Missouri.
