Men's Soccer Continues A-Sun Play At North Florida
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's soccer team returns to action on Friday, traveling to North Florida for a 6:00 p.m. match. Both teams come in looking for their first Atlantic Sun victory. The Bruins dropped a pair of A-Sun home contests to Stetson and FGCU last weekend, while the Ospreys fell to Jacksonville in their only league match thus far.
North Florida has had a rough start in 2010, recording a mark of 1-5-0. The Ospreys lost their only Atlantic Sun contest this season, dropping a 1-0 home match to city rival Jacksonville. UNF and Belmont have had two common opponents in 2010. Both teams fell to UAB 4-1, while UNF lost to Memphis 6-0 and the Bruins were topped by the Tigers, 4-0. Ricky Lawrence leads the Ospreys with two goals and two assists on the season.
The Bruins and the Ospreys have met five times, with Belmont holding a 4-1 advantage in the all time series. Last season BU defeated North Florida by a score of 4-1 at home. Belmont won the first three meetings between the two squads before UNF won 3-2 in Jacksonville in 2008.
Belmont will next stay in Jacksonville to take on the Dolphins on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. BU will then return home for three straight matches. Lipscomb comes to Whitten Soccer Complex on October 14, followed by ETSU and USC Upstate on October 22 and 24, respectively.
