Men's Soccer Tops Bellarmine 1-0 In Exhibition

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Belmont men's soccer team defeated Bellarmine by a score of 1-0 in a neutral site exhibition match Sunday night in Bowling Green.  The Bruins, whose first preseason contest was cancelled, will open regular season play at Missouri State on August 27.

"We started out a little slowly, but once we got our feet underneath us, we played pretty well," Head Coach Earle Davidson said following the match.  "We got more aggressive defensively in the second half and picked up the intensity.  We got our guys forward and ended up doing a nice job for our first time out."

Sophomore Nico Olsak (Boca Raton, Fla.) scored the lone goal of the contest, rebounding in a great shot attempt by freshman Tyler Vieth (Evansville, Ind.) during second half action.  Junior Lou Manning (Southlake, Texas) and freshman John Nardozzi (Lutz, Fla.) shared goalkeeper duties as Belmont shut out Bellarmine.  Sophomore Alex Jenison (Evansville, Ind.) also stood out, giving BU plenty of energy up top.

Belmont's first contest against Missouri State is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. CT.  The Bruins will then return home to play their first ever game at the new E.S. Rose Park.  BU will host Memphis on September 1 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
