Men's Soccer Opens A-Sun Play This Weekend
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont men's soccer team (4-5-0) will open up Atlantic Sun Conference play with a pair of games this weekend. The Bruins will host No. 24/22 ETSU (6-1-1) on Thursday at 6:00 p.m., and then play at USC Upstate (3-4-0) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
ETSU comes to Nashville on Thursday with only one loss on the season. In the most recent NSCAA poll, the Buccaneers were ranked 24th in the nation and third in the South Region. They are also currently ranked 22nd in the Soccer America Poll. David Geno leads ETSU with four goals, while Aaron Schoenfeld has matched him with nine total points on three goals and three assists.
USC Upstate will welcome Belmont to Spartanburg on Sunday after hosting Lipscomb on Friday. The Spartans hold a 3-4-0 record heading into the tilt with the Bisons. Upstate is 2-1-0 at home, recently topping common opponent VMI, 1-0. Dylan Hoop leads the team with two goals and one assist.
Belmont has a short history with both of this week's opponents. The Bruins are 1-2-0 against ETSU in the all-time series, and 2-2-0 against USC Upstate. Last season the Bucs defeated BU 1-0 in Nashville, while Belmont topped the Spartans 4-1 at home.
