MACON, Ga. – Junior Brandon Tarr (Knoxville, Tenn.) and sophomore Nico Olsak (Boca Raton, Fla.) were acknowledged for their performances over the 2011 season with Atlantic Sun Conference postseason honors, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Tarr was named to the All-Conference First Team, while Olsak earned Second Team All-Conference honors as well as A-Sun All-Academic Team accolades. It marks the third time in as many years that Tarr has been honored by the conference, earning second team accolades each of his first two years at Belmont. Olsak was named to the All-Freshman Team a year ago.
"We are extremely proud of Brandon and Nico for receiving such honors," Head Coach Earle Davidson said. "It is nice to see the other members of the conference recognizing what they bring to our program on a daily basis."
Finishing his junior campaign as the all-time leader for career goals and points in Belmont history, Tarr led the Bruins to its highest win total in three years in 2011. The forward finished with 10 goals on the season, which was a tie for the most in the conference, and the second best single-season performance in BU history. Tarr earned two A-Sun Player of the Week honors during the season, and ended the season with a two-goal performance against Eastern Illinois.
In only two seasons at Belmont, Olsak's 16 assists have already tied him for the all-time career record at BU. As a sophomore the midfielder tied the single-season Bruin record of eight helpers, matching his own output as a freshman. Olsak also scored four goals on the season, making him fifth in the league in points with 16. He has also excelled off the field, earning a spot on the first A-Sun Men's Soccer All-Academic Team. Olsak is majoring in Finance (Honors) and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.62.
