Men's Tennis Falls Short Against Embry-Riddle 4-3

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Belmont men's tennis team fell to Embry-Riddle 4-3 in a match played Thursday in Daytona Beach, Florida.  Embry Riddle is ranked #2 in the nation in NCAA Division II.

The Eagles won the first point of the match as they captured two of the three doubles matches. The lone Belmont win came at number two as Rafael Matos and Henrique Norbiato defeated Chris Freeman and JR Leonik 8-2.

In singles, ERAU took a 3-0 lead as they won at positions three and five.  The Bruins stormed back, winning two matches to cut the lead to 3-2.  However, the Eagles clinched the match victory with a win at number four.  

Belmont's three wins in singles came at the top two positions and at number six.  Renato Antun won at number one over Chris Freeman 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.  At number two, Henrique Norbiato beat Patrick Besch in three sets, while at number six, Bruno Silva defeated JR Leonik 6-2, 7-6.  

The Bruins (2-7) return to the court on Saturday as they travel to UAB.
