Joe Frye Named Atlantic Sun Field Athlete of the Week for the Third Time

MACON, Ga. -- Senior men's track and field thrower Joe Frye (Roscommon, Mich.) has been tabbed the Atlantic Sun Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

At the Vanderbilt Invitational last weekend, Frye broke the school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 61.45 meters, good for second place in the event.  That mark ranks 38th in the nation and 18th in the region.  In addition, he also placed seventh in the discus throw.

This is the third time he has won the A-Sun weekly award this spring.  In total, Frye has been honored with the A-Sun's weekly track and field award nine times (indoor and outdoor).

Frye and the rest of his Bruin teammates will be back in action this Saturday at the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis.
