Men’s Track and Field Makes Strides at MTSU Valentine Invitational
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's track and field team again turned in a stand out set of performances over this weekend, this time at the MTSU Valentine Invitational. The Bruins finished the one-day meet with seven top-10 finishes.
Freshman Zach Hughes (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) led the Bruins in the field events, taking second in the long jump with a mark of 7.18m. He also took 10th in the weight throw (11.89m).
On the track, freshman David Everett (St. Louis, Mo.) notched a third-place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:57.22. In the Mile, classmate Kurtis Gibson (Highbridge, England) was seventh with a time of 4:26.11. Sophomore Evan Scruton (Columbus, Ind.) excelled in the 3000m, taking seventh (9:05.45) while junior Kyle Sullinger (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) finished eighth in the event (9:08.71).
Belmont returns to action this weekend at the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field Championships in Johnson City, Tenn.
