Men's Track and Field Open Strong at Duke Invitational
RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Belmont men's track and field team opened its weekend appearance at the two-day Duke Invitational on Friday, tallying five top-25 finishes.
Sophomore Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson (Newbury, England) led the way for BU, notching a third place finish in a deeply contested 1500m field, crossing the line in 3:52.72. His time was less than one second off the top finisher in the event. Freshman Kurtis Gibson (Highbridge, England) took 18th in the event with a time of 3:58.51.
In Section B of the 5000m, junior Josh Helton (Franklin, Tenn.) finished 13th with a time of 14:59.94. Classmate Brandon Mahaney (Lafayette, Tenn.) and freshman David Everett (St. Louis, Mo.) took 17th (15:08.16) and 23rd (15:16.03), respectively, in the event.
Belmont concludes action at the Duke Invitational on Saturday.
