Broken Record Headlines Men's Track and Field Performances at Billy Hayes Invitational
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Several Belmont men's track and field athletes had standout performances at the Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by Indiana University over the weekend. The Bruins collected six top-20 finishes at the meet before inclement weather halted action.
Leading the way for BU was sophomore Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson (Newbury, England), who took fourth in the 1500m Invitational with a time of 3:45.92. His time also broke a Belmont record that had stood for 34 years. Bridger-Wilkinson's time also now stands as the top time in the event among all Atlantic Sun runners.
Sophomore Zach Gray (Lee's Summit, Mo.) took 11th in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 54.33 while classmate Caleb Darnell (Lafayette, Tenn.) finished 18th (56.94) in the event.
In the 1500m, junior Josh Helton (Franklin, Tenn.) finished eighth with a time of 4:00.60.
In a deep 800m field, freshman Kurtis Gibson (Highbridge, England) placed 14th with a time of 1:53.77.
In the field events, freshman Collier Roberts (Raleigh, N.C.) tied for 10th in the Javelin with a mark of 47.21m.
Belmont men's track and field returns to action on May 11 at the Cardinal Twilight hosted by the University of Louisville.
