Men's Track and Field Compete at Jesse Owens Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont men's track and field team split up to compete over the weekend in preparation for the upcoming Atlantic Sun Championships. The Bruins saw action at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State, coming away with four top-50 finishes. Weather prevented the rest of the team from competing at the Mississippi Open.
Freshman Kyle Sullinger (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) was the top BU finisher at the event, taking 37th in the 5000m with a time of 15:26.19. Senior Kip Hill (Liberty, Mo.) finished two spots behind with a time of 15:28.72 and classmate Hillary Cheruiyot (Eldoret, Kenya) took 46th with a time of 15:52.53.
In the 1500m, senior Clay Hannah (Lebanon, Tenn.) took 46th with a time of 4:01.46 while freshman Josh Helton (Franklin, Tenn.) as 52nd in the event with a time of 4:05.60.
The Bruins return to action the weekend of May 14 at the Atlantic Sun Championships hosted by Jacksonville.
