Miller Leads Men's Cross Country at South Regional
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Belmont men's cross country team placed 10th out of 24 teams in competition at the NCAA South Regional Championships on Saturday. The Bruins finished in the top 12 in the region for the 12th straight year.
BU recorded the second best team performance by an Atlantic Sun Conference squad, scoring 281 points. Kennesaw State tallied 258 points to tie for seventh at the championships. Lipscomb, Mercer, and North Florida took 13th, 16th, and 19th, respectively.
Junior Matt Miller (LaPorte, Ind.) led the Belmont charge, placing 14th in a field of 159 harriers. He recorded a time of 31:38.50 on the 10 kilometer course.
Sophomore Erick Kigen (Eldoret, Kenya) and freshman Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson (Newbury, England) were Belmont's second and third runners on Saturday. The former placed 50th in a time of 32:55.00, while the latter crossed the line in 33:19.00 to take 66th.
Sophomore Josh Helton (Franklin, Tenn.) and junior Kyle Sullinger (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) rounded out the Bruin scorers at the meet. Helton recorded a time of 33:20.50 to place 68th and Sullinger took 89th with a time of 33:40.20.
